After graduation, a number of male students return to their alma mater and carry on with lives that are strikingly similar to those they led before graduation. After Grover’s graduation from college, Jane informs him that she would be moving to Prague to further her education in writing.
Grover does not go with her and instead makes the decision to move in with many pals, all of whom are unable to fully get up the inertia necessary to flee the draw of their respective universities. Nobody likes to make any major choices that could significantly impact the course of his life, but nobody also wants to end up in the same situation as Chet, the professional student who works as a bartender and is currently in his ninth year of a college education.
