10 Movies Like Broken Flowers

Don Johnston, a former Don Juan who built a little fortune in the computer business, has stated that he is looking forward to a peaceful retirement. He is perfectly pleased to do nothing more than laze around, watch old movies, and listen to soft listening music or classical music. When he receives a letter in a pink envelope, his present girlfriend Sherry has decided to break their relationship and move out of his home. Later, Don reads the letter; it appears to be from an unknown former lover, and it informs him that he has a son who is almost nineteen years old and who may be looking for him. The letter also states that the son may be looking for Don.

At first, Don does not intend to take any action about the matter; however, Don’s nosy neighbor Winston, who has a passion for reading mystery novels, encourages Don to look into the matter. Winston conducts research to determine the current locations of the five women who are the most likely candidates to have written the letter. He then provides Don with this information, as well as maps and flight reservations, in an effort to convince him to travel to these five women and question them. In the end, Don has interactions with four women (the fifth one had passed away prior to the events depicted in the movie); each interaction is more traumatic than the one that came before it, and each woman is broken in some way.
