Ever since her father passed away, she has been compelled to mature early because her mother, a nurse, works long nights at a local hospital. Asuna enjoys her time alone by listening to the enigmatic music from the cat’s-whisker receiver that her father gave her as a souvenir. She is sometimes joined by her favorite cat Mimi, who has peculiar red markings on her fur.

One day, as she is crossing a bridge on her way to her clubhouse, she is attacked by a terrifying creature and rescued by a mysterious teenage lad named Shun. Asuna tends to the wound that Shun sustained while fighting the monster, and later the two of them listen to the radio that Asuna brought along. Asuna learns from Shun that he is originally from Agartha and has traveled to this location in search of something. After that, he bestows his blessing upon Asuna in the form of a kiss on the top of her head. Asuna rushes out of the room and promises Shun that she’ll see him the next day. Now by himself, Shun stands on the cliff’s edge, gazes up at the stars, and then leaps to his death.
