During the 2021 CinemaCon event, which took place in Los Angeles on August 26, 2021, the movie was unexpectedly shown to attendees. It was going to have its world premiere at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival in September 2021. Then it was going to have its theatrical release in the United States on September 17 after being delayed by Paramount Pictures due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The film grossed $107 million worldwide on a budget of $64 million but received negative to positive reviews from reviewers. A sequel is under development.
