The story follows the exploits of Ethan Kendrick, who was tasked when he was young by the mysterious Jack to safeguard the Yuh Yi Joo. This was an individual who had been born with the ability to transform an Imoogi chosen by heaven into a Celestial Dragon. The Yuh Yi Joo was being pursued by a tainted Imoogi known as “Buraki,” who had been prevented from obtaining it in the past by Ethan and Jack’ To achieve this goal, Jack bestows upon Ethan a medallion that had previously been owned by Ethan’s previous incarnation, Haram. Jack also explains that the reborn Yuh Yi Joo is Sarah Daniels, whom Ethan will locate in Los Angeles.

15 years after this information was revealed, Buraki invaded the city with the intention of capturing Sarah. Ethan, who was now working as a news anchor for a television station, was the one who rescued her, informed her of her mission, and attempted to save her from Buraki. It was during these events that they eventually regained their memories of their previous lives. The subsequent pursuit leads to Buraki’s “Atrox Army” entering the city, where they fight it out with the United States Army, the United States Air Force, and the Los Angeles Police Department.

The Atrox Army is shown to be composed of black-armored humanoid knight warriors, theropod-like cavalry known as “Shaconnes,” small, winged Western dragons known as “Bulcos,” enormous, slow-moving reptiles carrying rocket launchers on their backs, which are referred to as “Dawdlers” in the dialogue. Despite suffering casualties, this army is able to easily defeat the human forces. Meanwhile, Ethan and Sarah manage to flee the city, but they are eventually captured by the Bulcos and taken to a forbidding stronghold in the middle of a gloomy desert environment.
