Chi meets Qing at a celebration party that is attended by numerous Gatao leaders and senators. Chi is making plans to chronicle the final moments of her hometown, the North Fort before it is demolished to make way for urban redevelopment construction. Together with Qing, she learns about the world of Gatao, and as time passes, the two of them develop deeper feelings for one another.
In the meantime, tensions between the South and the North have been increasing as a result of the invasion from the South Pit. Chi’s safety is in jeopardy since Qing is heavily involved in the conflict between the two Gataos at the North Fort, where he serves an important role.
