A courageous young lady with blue hair named Hilda decides to leave the woods and travel to the town with the hopes of making new friends, having exciting new experiences, discovering magic, and coming across strange creatures that could be harmful. Hilda is currently 11 years old and has spent her entire life living with her mother in a little cottage on the outskirts of the forest close to the fortified city of Stolberg.

She and her deer fox Twig, who is later joined by an elf named Alfur and her friends David and Frida, go on a number of adventures throughout the course of the series, during which they interact with and make friends with the mysterious animals, people, and spirits that live in and around the city of Stolberg.
