The Pokémon-like “must collect em all” motif and the monster training parts are mostly avoided in the Legendz anime, which focuses instead on the overall backgrounds of the monster characters and the stories they have to tell.

The first episode of the Legendz anime begins with the discovery of the “Soul Dolls,” which are mysterious dolls that are said to house legendary animals that are extremely powerful.
