36 Cartoons Like Mission Hill

It originally aired on WB from September 24, 1999, all the way through July 16, 2000, and then moved to Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim from July 14, 2002, to August 11, 2002. Mission Hill is an American adult animated television sitcom.

In spite of the fact that it initially received low ratings, it has subsequently garnered a cult following. It is also well-liked in countries other than the United States and Canada; for example, it is broadcast in Australia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, Spain, and New Zealand.

The series is easily identifiable stylistically because to its use of vivid, neon colour palette, as well as its odd combination of contemporary animation and more traditional drawings in a “cartoonish” style (dashed lines coming from eyes to indicate line of vision, red bolts of lightning around a spot in pain).

The style was designed to evoke memories of rubber hose cartoons from the 1930s produced by studios such as Fleischer Studios, Walt Disney, Warner Bros., and MGM, as well as mid-century modern cartoons produced by studios such as Hanna-Barbera, UPA, Jay Ward, and The Pink Panther.

Lauren MacMullan is the one responsible for the designs, and she credits the comic series Eightball as the source of inspiration for the general look she came up with.
