18 Movies Like Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind

Since the Seven Days of Fire, an apocalyptic conflict that wiped out civilization and created the huge Toxic Jungle, a poisonous forest crawling with giant mutant insects, a thousand years have passed. Nausicaa, the princess of the Valley of the Wind, travels through the jungle and establishes communication with its various inhabitants, including the enormous, armored Ohm, which resembles a trilobite.

She wants to learn everything she can about the forest in the hopes that she can figure out a method for humans and animals to live together peacefully. In spite of Nausicaa’s best efforts, a big cargo aircraft from the kingdom of Tolmekia is lost when it crashes in the Valley one morning just before dawn. Princess Lastelle of Pejite, the ship’s lone survivor, begs Nausicaa to destroy the cargo before she succumbs to her injuries. The cargo is an embryo of a Giant Warrior, one of the bioweapons that produced the Seven Days of Fire. Giant Warriors are devastating, enormous humanoid bioweapons.

Pejite was forced to hand over the embryo and Lastelle to Tolmekia, a military state, but on their way there, their jet was attacked by insects and destroyed. Nausicaa uses a bullroarer to subdue one of the insects that have emerged from the wreckage injured and ready to strike. After doing so, she leads it away from the town.
