Mark Lewis (Carl Boehm), who is in London, encounters the prostitute Dora (Brenda Bruce), and begins secretly photographing her with a camera that is concealed beneath his coat. After following the woman into her apartment, where he commits the murder, he subsequently watches the footage in his den, which is seen from the perspective of the viewfinder on the camera. Lewis, posing as a reporter, watches as the authorities remove Dora’s body from her residence the following morning. He videos the process.

Lewis is currently a part of a film crew, and his ultimate career goal is to become a director. He is a young man who rarely interacts with people outside of his area of employment due to his reserved and solitary nature.
