The surface of the world has been ravaged by a conflict that has lasted for millennia between humans and vampires, which has led to the establishment of a theocracy under the leadership of an organisation known as “The Church.” Despite the fact that vampires are killed when exposed to sunlight and all of mankind’s technological advancements, the vampires’ superior strength and speed made it impossible for humanity to defeat them until they hid themselves in enormous walled cities and trained a group of elite warriors known as the Priests, which turned the tide of the battle.

In the very first scene, a group of Priests make their way inside the Sola Mira Hive, only to find themselves in the middle of a vampire ambush. One of their number is grabbed from behind as they attempt to flee, and their commander tries to pull him to safety, but is forced to let go and watch as he is pulled, screaming, back into the hive.

After a number of years have passed, the most of the vampires have been put to death, and the remaining few have been confined to reservations. After the battle was finished, the Clergy were responsible for disbanding the Priests. Some people try to make a life outside of the walled cities, where they are free from the authoritarian supervision of The Church.
