The Founder is an American biographical drama film that was released in 2016 and was directed by John Lee Hancock. The movie stars Michael Keaton as the successful businessman Ray Kroc, and it tells the story of how he established the McDonald’s chain of fast-food restaurants, which ultimately involved displacing the company’s original founders in order to seize control of the business through deceit and ruthlessness.
Together with Linda Cardellini, who plays Ray Kroc’s third wife Joan Smith, and B. J. Novak, who plays McDonald’s president and chief executive Harry J. Sonneborn, Nick Offerman and John Carroll Lynch co-star as McDonald’s founders Richard and Maurice McDonald in the film.
