19 Movies Like The Iron Giant (1999)

During the time of the Cold War, just after the Soviet Union launched Sputnik 1 in October 1957, an object from space crashes into the ocean just off the coast of Maine. It subsequently makes its way through the woodland close to the town of Rockwell.

The following evening, nine-year-old Hogarth Hughes goes looking for the item and discovers it to be an extraterrestrial robot standing fifty feet tall and making an effort to consume the transmission wires of an electrical substation. Hogarth, finding the Giant to be gentle and curious, gradually becomes friends with him. When he consumes some railroad tracks that are in the path of an approaching train, the locomotive crashes into him and derails as a result.

Hogarth takes the Giant away from the area, and in doing so, discovers that the Giant can fix himself. While they were there, Hogarth displayed comic books featuring the Giant and compared him to the superhero Superman.
