The Wolf of Wall Street is American biographical dark comedy crime film that was released in 2013 and directed by Martin Scorsese. The screenplay for film was written by Terence Winter and was based on Jordan Belfort’s memoir of same name, which was published in 2007.
The book also discusses how Belfort’s downfall was ultimately caused by the actions of his firm. Margot Robbie plays Belfort’s wife, Naomi Lapaglia, and Kyle Chandler plays an FBI agent named Patrick Denham who works to bring Belfort to justice.
Leonardo DiCaprio, who also served as film’s producer, plays Jordan Belfort in the movie. Jonah Hill portrays Belfort’s friend and business partner, Donnie Azoff, and Margot Robbie plays Belfort’s daughter.
In 2007, Leonardo DiCaprio and Warner Bros. won the rights to adapt Jordan Belfort’s novel, and Martin Scorsese was attached to film, but development was halted due to content limitations. After some time, an independent production business called Red Granite Pictures gave the project the go-ahead to proceed.
