The events of “Highschool of the Dead” take place in the current day and begin just as a fatal pandemic that transforms people into zombies sweeps over the globe. The story’s protagonists refer to the infected people as “them” because they are no longer recognized as human.
During a terrible event that occurs on a global scale and is known as the “Outbreak,” the plot centers on a group of high school students, the nurse at their school, and a small girl as they attempt to make their way to safety through the dangerous streets of Japan. The leading group of survivors, which consists of six other people and a tiny dog and is being led by a sophomore named Takashi Komuro, has come together to form a gestalt team with one purpose: to survive.
