Charlie Croker brilliantly conceives and executes an original gold robbery from a Venetian bank, only to be betrayed by cohort Steve, whose henchmen steal all the loot and kill Charlie’s prospective father-in-law, retiring master criminal John Bridger. Charlie’s brilliant plan to rob the bank was betrayed by Steve, who was Charlie’s cohort.

After locating Steve in Los Angeles, where he lives like a king despite his lack of imagination due to the sale of the gold bars, Charlie reassembles the team for the purpose of exacting revenge. This includes the getaway driver and seducer handsome Rob, the information technology genius Lyle, the explosives expert Left Ear, and John’s daughter, Stella, who was previously John’s own safe expert. After the seemingly faultless plan backfires, Charlie is forced to improvise in order to complete the task, while Steve, who has already murdered his fence in order to flee town, does not stop at anything.
